Gourmet Rum and Coke

This elevated version of the classic rum and coke is sure to impress even the most refined of palates. Ingredients: -2 oz. aged rum -1 oz. fresh lime juice -1 oz. gourmet cola syrup -3 dashes of Angostura bitters -Lime wheel, for garnish Directions: 1. Fill a rocks glass with ice. 2. In a shaker, combine the aged rum, fresh lime juice, gourmet cola syrup, and Angostura bitters. 3. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. 4. Strain the mixture over the ice in the rocks glass. 5. Garnish with a lime wheel and serve. To make the gourmet cola syrup, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 cup of water, 1 cinnamon stick, 2 whole cloves, 1 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg, and the zest of 1 lime in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a jar. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
